Domestic Sciences
This series is involved with perceptions of gender, ethnicity, power and the politics of awarding value. Composites of altered images from mass media and nature are constructed/fabricated by way of archaic craft and modern technology. Digitally scanned and greatly magnified miniature paintings and domestic objects are given significance by focus and scale. These images, devoid of their materiality, are virtually merged, cleaned, perfected and finally printed. The process is obsessive and deceptive and alludes to the restraint and suppression essential for domination.
